About Mount Saint Mary's University

Mount St. Mary’s University (also known as The Mount) is a Catholic, liberal arts university close Emmitsburg, Maryland. The campus includes the second largest Catholic seminary in the United States. Lay students can pursue a Master of Arts in Theology at the seminary.

The undergraduate academic world is divided into three schools: the College of Liberal Arts, the Richard J. Bolte School of Business, and the School of Natural Science and Mathematics. The the academy has higher than 40 majors, minors, concentrations and special programs, including bachelor’s/master’s combinations in partnership with extra universities. The university also offers eight master’s degree programs and six postgraduate recognize programs.

Emmitsburg is a town in Frederick County, Maryland, United States, 0.3 miles (0.5 km) south of the Mason-Dixon lineage separating Maryland from Pennsylvania. Founded in 1785, Emmitsburg is the house of Mount St. Mary’s University. The town has two Catholic pilgrimage sites: the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, which is on the campus of Mount St. Mary’s, and the Basilica and National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, who was the first native-born United States citizen to be canonized as a saint. The Seton Shrine is one of the summit eight Catholic pilgrimage destinations in the United States.

The National Emergency Training Center (NETC) campus is in Emmitsburg, located on the former campus of Saint Joseph College. The campus includes the Emergency Management Institute, the National Fire Academy and the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.

The population as of the 2010 U.S Census was 2,814.

Emmitsburg is house to three Cal Ripken Baseball 12U 46/60 baseball championships. The titles were won in consecutive years (2013, 2014, and 2015). For years, the puberty baseball and softball league was the gold satisfactory in the Catoctin area.[citation needed][peacock term]

The current mayor of Emmitsburg is Don Briggs. The current commissioners are Frank Davis, T. J. Burns, Tim O’Donnell, Joseph Ritz III and Cliff Sweeney.
