About Wor-Wic Community College

Wor–Wic Community College is a public community theoretical in Salisbury, Maryland. The college’s publicize is a portmanteau of Maryland’s Worcester and Wicomico counties. It was founded in 1975 and operated as a “college without walls” in the two counties for 20 years since constructing a campus in Salisbury in 1994. In 1989, state legislation was enacted to allow Somerset County residents to attend Wor-Wic at the in-county tuition rate.

In the Fall 2011 semester there were 4,063 students enrolled in tab courses and 2,382 students enrolled in non-credit courses. Wor-Wic is popular next students who plan upon transferring to Salisbury University because of its proximity, inexpensive tuition, and the resemblance of its general education courses to those of Salisbury University.

Salisbury (/ˈsɔːlzbəri/) is a city in and the county chair of Wicomico County, Maryland, United States, and the largest city in the state’s Eastern Shore region. The population was 30,343 at the 2010 census. Salisbury is the principal city of the Salisbury, Maryland-Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city is the classified ad hub of the Delmarva Peninsula, which was long devoted to agriculture and had a southern culture. It calls itself “The Comfortable Side of Coastal”.
