About White Mountains Community College

White Mountains Community College (WMCC) is a public community school with its main campus in Berlin, New Hampshire, and academic centers in Littleton and North Conway. It is ration of the Community College System of New Hampshire.

The assistant professor opened in the fall of 1966 as the northernmost campus of the “New Hampshire Vocational Institute”, also referred to as the “Berlin Vocational Institute”. It has had extra names more than its chronicles including “Berlin Vocational Technical College” (by 1970, and into the 1990s), “New Hampshire Community Technical College – Berlin” (1996 through mid-2007) and “New Hampshire Community College – Berlin” (only briefly, from mid-2007 to in advance 2008). The scholarly was renamed as “White Mountains Community College” in 2008 as share of a more general renaming of the state’s community colleges.

The Littleton center opened in 2009, followed by the North Conway location in 2016.

Berlin (/ˈbɜːrlɪn/ BUR-lin) is a city along the Androscoggin River in Coös County in northern New Hampshire, United States. It is the northernmost city in New Hampshire. The population was 10,051 at the 2010 census. As of July 1, 2019, the estimated population was 10,122. It includes the village of Cascade in the south share of the city. Located in New Hampshire’s Great North Woods Region or “North Country”, Berlin sits at the edge of the White Mountains, and the city’s boundaries extend into the White Mountain National Forest. Berlin is home to the Berlin and Coos County Historical Society’s Moffett House Museum & Genealogy Center, Service Credit Union Heritage Park, the Berlin Fish Hatchery, and the White Mountains Community College, member of the Community College System of New Hampshire.

Berlin is the principal city of the Berlin Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes anything of Coos County, New Hampshire and Essex County, Vermont. Because Quebec is less than 60 miles (100 km) away, Berlin has many people of French Canadian descent in its population. Around 65% of its residents talk a variant of New England French, which is known locally as “Berlin French”.
