The University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL Lafayette, University of Louisiana, or UL) is a public research academe in Lafayette, Louisiana. It has the largest enrollment within the nine-campus University of Louisiana System and the second largest enrollment in Louisiana. It is classified among “R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity”.
Founded in 1898 as an industrial school, the institution developed into a four-year university circles during the twentieth century and became known by its present name in 1999. It offers Louisiana’s and no-one else Ph.D. in francophone studies, Louisiana’s isolated master’s of informatics, and Louisiana’s isolated industrial design degree. The academic circles has achieved several milestones in computer science, engineering and architecture. It is also house to a clear College of the Arts.

Lafayette (/ˌlɑːfiːˈɛt, ˌlæf-/, French: [lafajɛt]) is a city in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The city is the most populous and parish chair of Lafayette Parish, and is located along the Vermilion River. It is Louisiana’s fourth largest incorporated municipality by population and the 219th most populous in the United States, with a 2019 census–estimated population of 126,199; the consolidated city–parish’s population was 244,390 in 2019. The Greater Lafayette metropolitan area was Louisiana’s third largest metropolitan statistical area with a population of 489,207 at the 2019 American Community Survey, overtaking the Shreveport–Bossier City metropolitan area.
Nicknamed “The Hub City”, the city and parish of Lafayette are otherwise known as the “Heart of Acadiana”, and have a consolidated city-parish government. The city, metropolitan area and Acadiana region are major centers for the technology industry, and house to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Lafayette is along with a major middle for health care and social services, aerospace, banking and retail. Entities behind headquarters or a large presence in the Lafayette Place include the Ochsner Health System, IberiaBank, JP Morgan Chase, Petroleum Helicopters International, Shoppers Value, Brookshire Grocery Company, Albertsons, Perficient, CGI, and Amazon.
