About Southeast Missouri State University

Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) is a public university in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The institution, having started as a normal school, has a standard strength in studious education. The recent accessory of the River Campus, housing the Holland School College of Arts and Media, has increased the university’s duty to education in the arts. The institution offers more than 200 areas of study, including undergraduate degrees as capably as master’s degrees and a cooperative Ed.D. program subsequently the University of Missouri.

Cape Girardeau (/ˈkeɪp dʒɪˈrɑːrdoʊ/, French: Cap-Girardeau [kap ʒiʁaʁdo] (listen); colloquially referred to as “Cape”) is a city in Cape Girardeau County and Scott County in the U.S. state of Missouri. According to 2019 United States Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city proper was 40,559, with the surrounding metropolitan area totaling 134,051 residents.

The city is the economic middle of Southeast Missouri and along with an emerging moot town as the house of Southeast Missouri State University. It is located approximately 100 miles (161 km) southeast of St. Louis and 150 miles (241 km) north of Memphis.
