About Pennsylvania College of Technology

Pennsylvania College of Technology (Penn College) is a public college in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. It is affiliated with, but autonomous from, Pennsylvania State University. As an applied technology college, the school offers certificate, associate, and baccalaureate degree programs in more than 100 fields of study. The college’s student body is 64% male and 86% are full-time.

Pennsylvania College of Technology is broken down into six schools of study; School of Business & Hospitality, School of Construction & Design Technologies, School of Nursing & Health Sciences, School of Industrial, Computing & Engineering Technologies, School of Sciences, Humanities & Visual Communications and School of Transportation & Natural Resources Technologies.

The college’s gymnastic teams play below the school’s nickname the Penn College Wildcats. Penn College yields 15 varsity sports teams which compete in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC).

Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, PA Review

Williamsport is a city in, and the county chair of, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, United States. In 2019, the population was estimated at 28,186. It is the principal city of the Williamsport Metropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of just about 114,000.

The city is the cultural, financial, and commercial middle of Central Pennsylvania. It is 131 miles (211 km) from Philadelphia, 166 miles (267 km) from Pittsburgh and 85 miles (137 km) from Harrisburg. It is known for its sports, arts scene and food. Williamsport was contracted by Americans in the late 18th century, and began to prosper due to its lumber industry. By the beforehand 20th century, it reached the height of its prosperity. The population has before declined by virtually a third from its peak of just about 45,000 in 1950.

As county seat, Williamsport has the county courthouse, county prison, sheriff’s office headquarters and federal courthouse, all downtown. It is also house to two institutions of higher learning, the Pennsylvania College of Technology and Lycoming College.

Williamsport is the birthplace of Little League Baseball. South Williamsport, a town nearby, is the headquarters of Little League Baseball and annually hosts the Little League World Series in late summer. Other points of immersion include the Hiawatha riverboat, Millionaires’ Row, Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum, the Community Arts Center, the Genetti Hotel, the Susquehanna Riverwalk and The Gallery at Penn College.
