About Montana State University

Montana State University (MSU) is a public land-grant research academic world in Bozeman, Montana. It is the state’s largest university. MSU offers baccalaureate degrees in 60 fields, master’s degrees in 68 fields, and doctoral degrees in 35 fields through its nine colleges. More than 16,700 students attended MSU in slip 2019, taught by 796 full-time and 547 part-time faculty.

Located upon the south side of Bozeman, the university’s 1,170 acres (470 ha) campus is the largest in the state. The university’s main campus in Bozeman is home to KUSM television, KGLT radio, and the Museum of the Rockies. MSU provides outreach facilities to citizens and communities statewide through its agricultural experiment station and 60 county and reservation enlargement offices. The height of the campus is 4,900 feet (1,500 m) above sea level.

Bozeman is a city and the county chair of Gallatin County, Montana, United States. Located in southwest Montana, the 2010 census put Bozeman’s population at 37,280 and by 2019 the population had risen to 49,831, making it the fourth largest city in Montana. It is the principal city of the Bozeman, MT Micropolitan Statistical Area, consisting of everything of Gallatin County in imitation of a population of 97,304. Due to the fast growth rate Bozeman is expected to be upgraded to Montana’s fourth Metropolitan Area. It is the largest Micropolitan Statistical Area in Montana, the fastest growing Micropolitan Statistical Area in the United States in 2018, 2019, and 2020 and is the third-largest of all Montana’s statistical areas.

The city is named after John M. Bozeman, who usual the Bozeman Trail and was a founder of the town in August 1864. The town became incorporated in April 1883 similar to a city council form of government, and in January 1922 transitioned to its current city manager/city commission form of government. Bozeman was elected an All-America City in 2001 by the National Civic League.

Bozeman is home to Montana State University. The local newspaper is the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, and the city is served by Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport.
