Midland College (MC) is a public college in Midland, Texas. It was time-honored as an independent junior bookish in 1972 and held its first classes upon campus in 1975. It is the principal city of the Midland, Texas metropolitan statistical area, which includes anything of Midland County, the population of which grew 4.6% between July 1, 2011, and July 1, 2012, to 151,662, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The metropolitan Place is allocation of the larger Midland–Odessa mass statistical area, which had an estimated population of 295,987 upon July 1, 2012. People in Midland are called Midlanders.
Midland was founded as the midway tapering off between Fort Worth and El Paso upon the Texas and Pacific Railroad in 1881. It is the hometown of former First Lady Laura Bush, and the onetime house of former Presidents George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush, and former First Lady Barbara Bush.
