About Methodist University

Methodist University, known until 2006 as Methodist College, is a private academe that is historically connected to the North Carolina Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church and located in Fayetteville, North Carolina. It is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission upon Colleges.

Methodist University offers higher than 80 majors and concentrations in five undergraduate schools and five graduate programs. The school’s first doctoral-level program, the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, began enrolling students in fall 2015. A second doctoral-level program, the Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program, enrolled its inaugural class in August 2018.

Methodist University enrolls a diverse student body from over 41 states and on peak of 53 countries. These students are involved in greater than a hundred clubs and student organizations and 20 NCAA Division III flexible teams. Monarch teams have won 59 team and individual national championships in just under 50 years of competition as without difficulty as capturing 116 conference championships and buildup 286 All-Americans and 51 Academic All-Americans. The university has graduated on pinnacle of 12,000 past its first graduating class in 1964.

Methodist University is one of the fastest growing institutions in the southeast, having re doubled enrollment previously 1990. In 2013, Methodist University announced a $35 million capital excite entitled “Building Excellence: The Campaign for Methodist University”, which would fund the extra Thomas R. McLean Health Sciences Building, several new supple facilities, and a major renovation to the Reeves Fine Arts Building, to tally up Huff Concert Hall, the Union-Zukowski Lobby and Gallery, and the Matthews World Ministry Center. Methodist University highly praised the official decline of the Campaign for Methodist University—Building Excellence October 20, 2016. The largest fundraising initiative in the university’s history, the campaign surpassed its $35 million take aim and raised a record $41,266,820.

Fayetteville (/ˈfeɪətˌvɪl/) is a city in Cumberland County, North Carolina, United States. It is the county seat of Cumberland County, and is best known as the home of Fort Bragg, a major U.S. Army installation northwest of the city.

Fayetteville has expected the All-America City Award from the National Civic League three times. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 200,564, with an estimated population of 211,657 in 2019. It is the 6th-largest city in North Carolina. Fayetteville is in the Sandhills in the western portion of the Coastal Plain region, on the Cape Fear River.

With an estimated population in 2019 of 526,719 people, the Fayetteville metropolitan area is the largest in southeastern North Carolina, and the fifth-largest in the state. Suburban areas of metro Fayetteville augment Fort Bragg, Hope Mills, Spring Lake, Raeford, Pope Field, Rockfish, Stedman, and Eastover. Fayetteville’s mayor is Mitch Colvin, who is serving his second term.
