About La Sierra University

La Sierra University (La Sierra or LSU) is a private Seventh-day Adventist the academy in Riverside, California. Founded in 1922 as La Sierra Academy, it later became La Sierra College, a liberal arts college, and after that was compound into Loma Linda University in 1967 and named La Sierra College of Arts and Sciences. In 1990, La Sierra College of Arts and Sciences on bad terms from Loma Linda University to become La Sierra University, an independent institution. It is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Adventist Accrediting Association (AAA).

Since becoming independent in 1990, La Sierra University has won combination national and world titles in the Enactus (formerly Students in Free Enterprise) competition. In the late 2000s and to the fore 2010s, controversy arose involving the teaching of progress in La Sierra’s science curriculum. La Sierra was founded in 1922 with the Southeastern California Conference, one of the regional governing bodies of the Adventist church, obtained 300 acres (120 ha) of land in an unincorporated Place of Riverside County from Willits J. Hole. The estate was in imitation of a ration of a large Mexican land consent named Rancho La Sierra, giving La Sierra its current name.

Riverside is a city in, and the county chair of, Riverside County, California, United States, located in the Inland Empire metropolitan area. It is named for its location critical of the Santa Ana River. It is the most populous city in the Inland Empire and in Riverside County, and is located more or less 50 miles (80 km) east of downtown Los Angeles. It is also portion of the Greater Los Angeles area. Riverside is the 58th most populous city in the United States and 12th most populous city in California. As of the 2010 Census, Riverside had a population of 303,871.

Riverside was founded in the forward 1870s. It is the birthplace of the California citrus industry and home of the Mission Inn, the largest Mission Revival Style building in the United States. It is also home to the Riverside National Cemetery.

The University of California, Riverside, is located in the northeastern ration of the city. The academic world also hosts the Riverside Sports Complex. Other attractions in Riverside count up the Fox Performing Arts Center, Museum of Riverside, which houses exhibits and artifacts of local history, the California Museum of Photography, the California Citrus State Historic Park, and the Parent Washington Navel Orange Tree, the last of the two native navel tawny trees in California.
