About Kentucky State University

Kentucky State University (KSU and KYSU) is a public historically black land-grant academe in Frankfort, Kentucky. Founded in 1886 as the State Normal School for Colored Persons, and becoming a land-grant literary in 1890, KSU was the second state-supported institution of forward-thinking learning in Kentucky. In fall 2019, there was a sum undergraduate enrollment of 2,029 and a sum graduate enrollment of 142.

Frankfort is the capital city of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the seat of Franklin County. It is a house rule-class city in Kentucky; the population was 25,527 at the 2010 census. Located along the Kentucky River, Frankfort is the principal city of the Frankfort, Kentucky Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes whatever of Franklin and Anderson counties.
