About Indiana Wesleyan University

Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) is a private evangelical Christian academic world headquartered in Marion, Indiana affiliated next the Wesleyan Church. It is the largest private university circles in Indiana.

The college circles system includes IWU—Marion, where approximately 3,000 students are enrolled in conventional programs on the main campus in Marion. IWU-National & Global, which includes higher than 8,000 adult learners throughout the world who investigation online or onsite at 15 education centers in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio; and Wesley Seminary.

IWU offers over 80 undergraduate degrees, 57 graduate degrees and 9 doctorate degrees and students represent on height of 80 Christian denominations and 10 foreign countries.

Marion is a city in Grant County, Indiana, United States. The population was 29,948 as of the 2010 United States Census. The city is the county chair of Grant County. It is named for Francis Marion, a Brigadier General from South Carolina in the American Revolutionary War.

The city is house to Indiana Wesleyan University, the largest evangelical Christian university in the Midwest and Indiana’s largest private university, when online and regional campuses in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Illinois are included. The established campus enrolls about 2,800 students. Since 2016, Jess Alumbaugh has been Marion’s mayor.

Marion is the birthplace of actor James Dean and cartoonist Jim Davis. It was the location of the wedding of actress Julia Roberts and singer Lyle Lovett in 1993.

In August 1930, the lynching of two African-American men, Thomas Shipp and Abram Smith, was involved by a mob of 5,000 whites at the courthouse square. These were the last two lynchings in Indiana. A third youth, James Cameron, was threatened as soon as hanging, but was spared at that time.
