About Indiana University East

Indiana University East (IU East) is a public college circles in Richmond, Indiana. It is a regional campus of Indiana University. Located in the eastern Indiana and western Ohio region, IU East enrolls on zenith of 4,000 students across its 60 academic degree programs. IU East is a conventional campus that excels in militant learning options and a virtual campus with select online degree finishing programs. The campus includes five buildings on 174 acres. Established in 1971 by the Indiana University Board of Trustees, IU East offers bachelor’s and master’s degree programs and certificates in areas of Business and Economics, Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, Natural Science & Mathematics, Informatics, General Studies, Nursing and Health Sciences, and Social Work. The university’s men’s and women’s athletics teams are called the Red Wolves.

Richmond /ˈrɪtʃmənd/ is a city in east central Indiana, United States of America, bordering upon the State of Ohio in the Dayton metropolitan area. It is the county chair of Wayne County, and in the 2010 census had a population of 36,812. Situated largely within Wayne Township, its area includes a non-contiguous portion in to hand Boston Township, where Richmond Municipal Airport is currently located.

Richmond is sometimes called the “cradle of recorded jazz” because the primeval jazz recordings, and chronicles were made at the studio of Gennett Records, a disaffection of the Starr Piano Company. Gennett Records was the first to CD such artists as Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, Jelly Roll Morton, Hoagy Carmichael, Lawrence Welk, and Gene Autry.

The city has twice received the All-America City Award, most recently in 2009.
