About Georgia College

Georgia College & State University (Georgia College or GC) is a public innovative arts academe in Milledgeville, Georgia. The university circles enrolls nearly 7,000 students and is a advocate of the University System of Georgia and the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. Georgia College was designated Georgia’s “Public Liberal Arts University” in 1996 by the Georgia Board of Regents.

Students pursue majors and graduate degree programs throughout the university’s four colleges: College of Arts & Sciences, J. Whitney Bunting College of Business, John H. Lounsbury College of Education, and College of Health Sciences. Georgia College Athletics’ 11 teams compete in the NCAA Division II Peach Belt Conference.

Milledgeville is a city in and the county seat of Baldwin County in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is northeast of Macon and bordered upon the east by the Oconee River. The rude current of the river here made this an handsome location to construct a city. It was the capital of Georgia from 1804 to 1868, including during the American Civil War. Milledgeville was preceded as the capital city by Louisville and was succeeded by Atlanta, the current capital. Today U.S. Highway 441 connects Milledgeville to Madison, Athens, and Dublin.

As of July 1, 2019, the population of Milledgeville was 18,704, up from 17,715 at the 2010 US Census.
