About Florida Southern College

Florida Southern College (Florida Southern, Southern or FSC) is a private scholastic in Lakeland, Florida. In 2019, the student population at FSC consisted of 3,073 students along subsequent to 130 full-time capacity members. The instructor offers 50 undergraduate majors and pre-professional programs, graduate programs in nursing, business, and education as skillfully as post-graduate programs in nursing, education, and brute therapy.

Florida Southern is the home of the world’s largest single-site amassing of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. For its 2011 and 2012 rankings, The Princeton Evaluation selected Florida Southern’s campus as the most beautiful in the country.

Florida Southern has won 30 national titles in NCAA Division II competition in several sports, men’s golf (13 titles), baseball (9), women’s golf (4), men’s basketball (2), softball (1) and women’s lacrosse (1). The college’s official mascot is Mocsie the water moccasin, but they are next referenced by their nickname, the Mocs. The ascribed colors of the bookish and its gymnastic teams are scarlet and white.

Lakeland is a city in Polk County, Florida, part of the Tampa Bay Area, located along Interstate 4 east of Tampa. According to the 2019 U.S. Census Bureau estimate, the city had a population of 112,136. Lakeland is a principal city of the Lakeland–Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area.

European-American settlers arrived in Lakeland from South Carolina in the 1870s. The city expanded in the 1880s behind the coming on of rail service, with the first freedmen railway workers settling here in 1883. They and European immigrants plus came because of additional jobs in the large phosphate industry that developed. Lakeland is home to the 1,267-acre Circle B Bar Reserve.[citation needed]
