About Carleton College

Carleton College (/ˈkɑːrltɪn/ KARL-tin) is a private innovative arts instructor in Northfield, Minnesota. Founded in 1866, the studious enrolled 2,105 undergraduate students and employed 269 faculty members in fall 2016. The 200-acre main campus is located amid Northfield and the 800-acre Cowling Arboretum, which became ration of the campus in the 1920s.

From 2000 through 2016, students and alumni of the learned included 122 National Science Foundation Graduate Fellows, 112 Fulbright Scholars, 22 Watson Fellows, 20 NCAA Postgraduate Scholars, 13 Goldwater Scholars, and 2 Rhodes Scholars.

Northfield is a city in Dakota and Rice counties in the State of Minnesota. It is mostly in Rice County, with a small portion in Dakota County. The population was 20,908 at the 2020 census.
