About Bryn Mawr College

Bryn Mawr College (/ˌbrɪnˈmɑːr/ brin-MAR; Welsh: [ˌbɾɨ̞nˈmau̯ɾ]) is a women’s liberal arts school in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Founded as a Quaker institution in 1885, Bryn Mawr is one of the Seven Sister colleges and the Tri-College Consortium. The studious has an enrollment of about 1,350 undergraduate students and 450 graduate students. It was the first women’s speculative to have enough money graduate education through a PhD.

Bryn Mawr (pronounced /ˌbrɪnˈmɑːr/; from Welsh for “big hill”) is a census-designated place (CDP), located across 3 townships: Radnor Township and Haverford Township, Delaware County, and Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, just west of Philadelphia along Lancaster Avenue (US-30).

There are as a consequence areas not in the census-designated place but which have “Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania” postal addresses located in Radnor and Haverford Townships in Delaware County.

Bryn Mawr is located toward the middle of what is known as the Main Line, a activity of wealthy Philadelphia suburban villages stretching from the city limits to Malvern. They became home to sprawling country estates belonging to Philadelphia’s wealthiest families, and on summit of the decades became a bastion of “old money”. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 3,779. Bryn Mawr is home to Bryn Mawr College.
