About Boise State University

Boise State University (BSU) is a public research college circles in Boise, Idaho. Founded in 1932 by the Episcopal Church, it became an independent junior college in 1934 and has been awarding baccalaureate and master’s degrees in the past 1965.

Boise State offers higher than 100 graduate programs, including the MBA and MAcc programs in the College of Business and Economics; Masters and PhD programs in the Colleges of Engineering, Arts & Sciences, and Education; and the MPA program in the School of Public Service. It is classified among “R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity”.

The university’s intercollegiate athletic teams, the Broncos, compete in the Mountain West Conference (MWC) in NCAA Division I.

Boise (/ˈbɔɪsi/ (listen)) is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Idaho and is the county chair of Ada County. On the Boise River in southwestern Idaho, it is 41 miles (66 km) east of the Oregon border and 110 miles (177 km) north of the Nevada border. The downtown area’s height above sea level is 2,704 feet (824 m) above sea level. Its estimated population in 2020 was 240,380.
