About Albany Technical College

Albany Technical College (Albany Tech or ATC) is a public community instructor in Albany, Georgia. It is allowance of the Technical College System of Georgia and provides education facilities for a seven-county service area in southwest Georgia. The school’s service Place includes Baker, Calhoun, Clay, Dougherty, Lee, Randolph, and Terrell counties. ATC is accredited by the Commission upon Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to tribute Associate of Applied Science Degrees. The ATC Medical Assisting Program is furthermore accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB).

Albany (/ɔːbəni/ AW-bə-nee) is a city in the U.S. state of Georgia. Located on the Flint River, it is the seat of Dougherty County, and is the sole incorporated city in that county. Located in southwest Georgia, it is the principal city of the Albany, Georgia metropolitan area. The population was 77,434 at the 2010 U.S. Census, making it the eighth-largest city in the state. It became prominent in the nineteenth century as a shipping and announce center, first served by riverboats. Scheduled steamboats aligned Albany past the busy port of Apalachicola, Florida. They were replaced by railroads. Seven lines met in Albany, and it was a center of trade in the Southeast. It is share of the Black Belt, the extensive Place in the Deep South of cotton plantations. From the mid-20th century, it traditional military investment during World War II and after, that helped fabricate the region. Albany and this Place were prominent during the civil rights era, particularly during the forward 1960s as activists worked to regain voting and new civil rights. Railroad restructuring and dwindling in the military here caused job losses, but the city has developed supplementary businesses.
